Not sure why it didn’t happen sooner.
Maybe because they have always been out of the way for me or because I was comfortable with my local grocery, whatever the reason, I had never stopped by one of Tampa’s farmer’s markets. For my first attempt, I hit up the Sanwa Farmer’s Market. The upshots to a farmer’s market over a supermarket are clear…fresh produce and better prices. What I didn’t expect was that it would curb some of my usual grocery shopping anxieties. Fewer bright fluorescent lights, larger isles, a fraction of the registers seen in a supermarket, yet shorter lines. No one ran into me with a cart and no fashion or gossip mags at the register! Now, I’ve been known to frequent the local oriental and latin markets, but this particular market was extra great because they carried a great selection of both Latin and Asian products, way more than I could find at the chain store up the street. Then there was the produce. Everything seemed brighter and more delicious there. There were so many shades of green and I even enjoyed the color orange for a brief moment! Pretty much hooked to this place.
