blogPost Earth Day, Pre-Arbor Day Gifts

April 25, 2014

Those quick project planning skills come in handy.

I am festive and I enjoy sharing my festive nature with others, especially kids. They get it and for the most part, they appreciate it. With Earth Day and Arbor Day falling in the same week, I had to come up with something to celebrate. The project was planned for 21 pre-schoolers to have a little gift to commemorate the holidays. We made small, cardboard tube planters. Cardboard tubes from paper towels were used as a lesson in recycling. Not groundbreaking stuff, but super fun and super cute. Each tube planter was decorated with a tree for Arbor Day. Food coloring was used to keep the project as earth friendly as possible. In the planters, we planted tiny succulents from our yard. This way, we could share our garden with everyone…without a class full of kids coming to the house. The planters were finished off with cotton twine handles for ease of carrying. These mini planters are absolutely adorable.
