blogAn Extra Eye for Luck

May 15, 2014

Peacock piece from my good fortune series is done.

As I mentioned in the first post discussing this series, every piece in it will revolve around symbols of good luck and/or protection.
For my first piece, I chose the peacock as the central “lucky” image. It is a good luck symbol in itself. In many cultures, the feathers are considered to act much like the evil eye, working an amulet of protection against negative forces. I also incorporated the evil eye on the peacock’s belly to add an extra dose of protection. The deep blues used in the piece can even be considered somewhat symbolic as well, with sapphire being a gem of luck and protection.
